Packaging tourist services
can create a cost-effective way for businesses and communities to
increase the number of tourist visits to an area, as well as the
amount that tourists spend per visit. By combining interesting and
complimentary types of services, tourism businesses, and the communities
in which they're located, can benefit from the synergy created by
offering tourist packages. Some examples of packages include: tours
for specific interest groups, special offers that are tied to a
specific place or event, suggested itineraries and tours, and bookable
package deals.
In Tompkins County, there are several organizations that work
on identifying packaging opportunities, preparing packages, and
marketing the package deals. The main point of contact for these
types of efforts in the County is the Convention
and Visitor's Bureau.
