Empire Zones

The Empire Zone program, sponsored by the State of New York, encourages business development in designated areas by offering targeted incentives and benefits to new and expanding commercial and industrial firms. Using this program, communities can attract new business development and direct it to areas in need of revitalization. In 2002, Tompkins County applied for Zone designation under this program (and will again in the future), but there are not yet any designated Empire Zones in Tompkins County.
