Communities can improve the visibility of their unique arts and
cultures by designating cultural districts, such as a theater
or a restaurant district, on specific streets. One way to do this
is to create distinct signs or flags that mark the district, promote
the district in tourist brochures and regional media, and encourage
district-enhancing businesses to locate there.
Another option for smaller communities is to create and market
an event built around some special aspect of their community or
their community's history. These types of events can be a source
of community pride, as well as an economic boost over a relatively
short period of time.
