This Special Tabulation (#137) provided separate sets of the 2000 Census data for “college students” and “non-college students” for Tompkins County and by municipality. “College student” was defined as those answering “yes” to the question: “at any time since February 1, 2000, has this person attended regular school or college?” for ages 17 or over. The results of the Special Tabulation can be found here. American Community Survey The American Community Survey (ACS) is a new approach to producing information about the characteristics of local communities. Beginning with data collected in 2005, the ACS will release annual estimates of social, housing, and economic characteristics for Tompkins County. For smaller geographic areas, the ACS will accumulate data over 3-year and 5-year intervals to produce estimates for smaller geographic areas including census tracts and block groups. Estimates for Tompkins County from the ACS can be viewed here. |
