Agricultural Resource Focus Area Plan

The purpose of the ARFA Plan is to develop a strategic approach for long-term conservation of farmland resources.  This plan will present existing conditions of the agricultural resource base in each ARFA; identify impediments, opportunities, and resources for the farming community; and develop conservation and management tools to ensure the future viability of these important agricultural resources and to help farming prosper in these areas.

Where are the ARFAs?   The six ARFAs are located across Tompkins County, in the Towns of Lansing, Groton, Dryden, Caroline, Newfield, Enfield and Ulysses.

In addition to the Agricultural Resource Focus Areas, the Towns of Ithaca and Danby have identified locally important agricultural lands that are key to local conservation efforts. These areas will be recognized in this planning effort.
