News Details - Commissioner Carey Recognized for Outstanding Community Service

Tompkins County Commissioner of Social Services Patricia Carey has been honored by Tompkins Community Action as recipient of the agency’s Community Action Award for 2011.

The award, presented at the organization’s annual meeting today, recognizes Commissioner Carey for her service to the community’s low-income residents. The award was given “in recognition of her vision creating collaborative opportunities to improve the quality of life in Tompkins County.”

“This is really about the people in this community who are working every day with families and children to create a better community," Carey notes.

Commissioner Carey has worked for the Tompkins County Department of Social Services since 1990 and has served as Commissioner since 2003.
