HOW FEDERAL TRANSPORTATION
DOLLARS ARE SPENT IN TOMPKINS COUNTY
The Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council
(ITCTC) is pleased to announce the availability of the 2009
Annual List of Obligated Projects. The ITCTC maintains an
five-year program (list) of transportation projects that are
scheduled to use federal funding. This five-year program is
called the Transportation Improvement Program. All federally
funded projects are required to be on the TIP in order to
be eligible for funding.
To ensure that the public has an accurate
understanding of how federal funds are being spent on transportation
projects, Congress, in the Transportation Equity Act for the
21st Century (1998) and continuing in the Safe, Accountable,
Flexible, Efficient Transportation Equity Act: A Legacy for
Users (SAFETEA-LU,
2005), included a requirement that the organizations responsible
for approving the Transportation Improvement Program, publish
an annual listing of project obligations.
