Located at the center of the Town of Dryden, the village developed at the crossing of two roads, one north to Cortland and the other east to Virgil. First settled in 1797, the village incorporated in 1857. In 1974 the Tompkins Cortland Community College opened in Dryden Village, having moved from the Village of Groton.
