Religious Structures of Dryden

Foundation of Light
391 Turkey Hill Road, Ithaca
Foundation of Light
The Foundation of Light was established in 1974 as a meditation and healing group in a private home. Mabel Beggs donated the 1840 Hibbards Corners School which was a part of her lands in 1970. Then, in 1974, they incorporated as The Foundation of Light, a free church. As the group grew, they built an addition on the rear of the schoolhouse.
Foundation of LightIn the 1990s, Ms Beggs donated more land to the north of the schoolhouse, and the new building with a meeting room for 80, kitchen, and a 7000 volume library was completed in 2000. Currently it has a small chapel, but with plans for enlargement. In the churchyard are a Stone Circle and a grass Labyrinth, areas open to all for quiet meditation.
