Dryden Baptist Church
138 Virgil Road, Dryden

The Dryden Baptist Chapel had its first gathering in private homes in 1956 with 8 people. Within a few months, they were renting the Legion Hall on North Street for regular services. In 1959 they incorporated as a local independent Baptist church. In 1962 they bought the GLF building at 23 North Street and remodeled it to meet their needs. Ten years later, 18 Library St was purchased and turned into their parsonage In 1981 the church started a building fund and reached their goal of $50,000 in just two years. Then, in 1984, M/M Perry Mudge gave the church six acres from their family farm on Virgil Road, Route 392, and a church building program was started. By the end of 1985, services were held in their completed building, and in 1991 their name was officially changed to Dryden Baptist Church. And to cap it all, in 1996, the steeple was raised on the building.
