Religious Structures of Caroline

Another church which has disappeared is Morris Chapel, which once stood near 1486 Coddington Rd. It was built by the Morris Society of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Danby and Caroline, organized on Feb. 23, 1852 at a meeting at the nearby school. From 1906 to 1909 several lively revival meetings were held, many led, as the Ithaca Journal of that time said, by “the Famous English Evangalist Rev. George W. Clegg”. There was talk about participants coming from miles around and “Great Awe has rested upon the people” “Some of the most respected farmers in the district are among those who have walked boldly to the altar.”
