The existing bridge on Red Mill Road is narrow and was posted for 5 tons prior to closure. It is a 120-foot span truss that was built in 1887. Lack of funding and concerns of the State Historic Preservation Office have delayed construction. The County is now investigating new funding options. Funding: To be determined. Budgeted County Share: To be determined. Status: The bridge was closed on December 8, 2005, due to extensive deterioration. Replacement design is on hold pending funding. The County is considering elimination of the crossing and moving the bridge to a pedestiran trail among possible project alternatives. Schedule: Select preferred alternative in 2008.
