This project  will replace a 64-foot span, 24-foot wide concrete arch bridge in the Town of Newfield.  The bridge was built in 1931, and is adjacent to the railroad tracks, a DEC fishing access, and a residential neighborhood (trailer park) which generates significant pedestrian traffic.

    Budgeted County Share:  $49,000

  • Red Mill Road Bridge over Fall Creek, Town of Dryden
    THIS BRIDGE IS CLOSED.

This project would build a bridge that is usable for heavy and emergency traffic on or near Red Mill Road, between Freeville and McLean, in the Town of Dryden.  The existing bridge on Red Mill Road is narrow and was posted for 5 tons prior to closure.  It is a 120-foot span truss that was built in 1887.  Lack of  funding and concerns of the State Historic Preservation Office have delayed construction.  The County is now investigating new funding options.

    Funding:  To be determined.

Budgeted County Share:  To be determined.

Status:  The bridge was closed on December 8, 2005, due to extensive deterioration.  Replacement design is on hold pending funding.  The County is considering elimination of the crossing and moving the bridge to a pedestiran trail among possible project alternatives.

Schedule:  Select preferred alternative in 2008.
