Mill Road Bridge - Dryden - CLOSED

This project would build a bridge that is usable for heavy and emergency traffic on or near Red Mill Road, between Freeville and McLean, in the Town of Dryden. The existing bridge on Red Mill Road is narrow and was posted for 5 tons prior to closure in 2005. It is a 120-foot span truss that was built in 1887. Lack of funding and concerns of the State Historic Preservation Office have thwarted advancement of the project. Funding: To be determined. Budgeted County Share: To be determined. Status: The County has recommended close-out of the project with no plan to re-open the bridge at this time. Schedule: County to incorporate NYSDOT comments into Design

Forest Home Drive Bridge over Fall Creek, Town of Ithaca. This project will rehabilitate the metal truss bridge near the intersection of Caldwell Road (the "upstream bridge"). The bridge will remain a one-lane bridge. Approaches, including extension of sidewalks and a crosswalk at Caldwell Road, will be improved. Funding: 75% Federal; 25% Tompkins County, Town of Ithaca, Cornell University, and New York State. Budgeted County/Town/Cornell Share: $334,000 Status: Right-of-way acquisition is underway. West Seneca Road Bridge over Boardman Creek, Town of Ulysses. This project will replace a 30-foot long by 20-foot wide concrete arch bridge built in 1925, just west of Trumansburg, on the Seneca-Tompkins County line. Funding: (Design and right-of-way) 80% Tompkins County, 20% Town of Ulysses. Construction will receive 80% Federal funding. Estimated County Share: $151,400. Status: Design by Hunt Engineers of Horseheads, NY. State DOT is reviewing construction drawings. Schedule: Complete design in 2011. Construction in
2012.
Game Farm Road Bridge over Cascadilla Creek, near Varna. This project will replace a narrow, deteriorated bridge on the Ithaca-Dryden town line. It will also raise the road over the bridge to improve sight distances and enhance access to an adjacent hiking / biking trail and trailhead parking. Funding: $700,000 Tompkins County; $250,000 Cornell University's Community Transportation Initiative. Estimated Total Cost: $950,000. Status: Delta Engineers of Binghamton is designing the replacement structure. Schedule: Construction is delayed to 2014 due to budget
constraints.
Waterburg Road Bridge over over Taughannock Creek, Town of Ulysses. This project will design and build a replacement for a one-lane, 80-year-old bridge. Historic preservation interests will be considered. Funding: 100% Tompkins County. Estimated Total Cost: $1.4 million. Status: County to request design proposals in early 2012. Schedule: Design in 2012; Construction in 2013.

Covered Bridge over Cayuga Inlet West Branch, Town of Newfield. This project will design and repair several bridge elements and install a fire suppression system. Funding: 80% Federal; 15% NY State; 5% County & Town. Estimated Total Cost: $340,000 Status: Consultant (CHA) developing conceptual design to submit for State approval in February.
