Community Health Services

Childbirth Classes:
Evening childbirth classes taught by Registered Professional Nurses at the Health Department. Medicaid Obstetrical and Maternal Service (MOMS) Program. 274-6616

Communicable Disease Control:
Registered Professional Nurses investigate all reportable diseases to identify contacts, to educate individuals regarding disease transmission and prevention, and to offer preventive treatment if appropriate.

Flu Shots:
Flu shots are offered annually at various community sites each fall. For information call the Flu Hotline at 274-6609 or click here for further information.

Lead Poisoning and Prevention:
Lead screening for children is available by appointment. Case management and information on lead poisoning, prevention, and lead abatement are offered. 274-6616

Pregnancy Testing and Prenatal Care:
Free pregnancy testing and prenatal care assistance is offered to income eligible women. MOMS Program. 274-6616

Rabies:
Rabies shots are given to individuals identified by Environmental Health staff following exposure to known rabid or potentially rabid animals. The first shots are given at Cayuga Medical Center Emergency Department. Registered Professional Nurses on staff at the Health Department administer the remaining shots in the series by appointment.
