Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County - Outreach system of Cornell University that provides public education in many subjects, including energy and environmental matters.

Sustainable Tompkins - Sustainable Tompkins is a broad-based coalition of organizations and individuals whose mission is to ensure the long-term well-being of our communities and region.  It supports projects, partnerships, public education, and other strategies that connect and enhance the key aspects of sustainability.  The primary goal is to introduce the concept of sustainability to individuals,  businesses, and community and government leaders.

Natural Resources Inventory - The Tompkins County Planning Department
has published a Natural Resources Inventory for the County, which
includes maps and descriptions of various resources such as wetlands,
flood hazard areas, slopes, soils, bedrock and surficial geology, and
protected lands.

State

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) - Provides information and resources on environmental issues in New York. The weekly Environmental Notice Bulletin is posted here that provides information on environmental permitting and applications across the state. In depth information and articles can be found on the website on topics including Pesticide Neighbor Notification, NYS Open Space Plan, NYS Energy Plan, and Environmental Justice as well as DEC program and assistance information.

New York State Energy Research and Development Authority(NYSERDA) - Excellent source of information on energy use, trends, programs, and innnovations.

The New York League of Conservation Voters - NYLCV is the non-profit, nonpartisan political arm of New York's environmental community. NYLCV seeks to make environmental protection a priority with New York's elected officials, political candidates, businesses and voters by mobilizing New Yorkers as a political force on behalf of the environment.

Environmental Advocates - Serves the people of New York as an effective and aggressive watchdog and advocates on nearly every important state environmental issue.

New York Public Interest Research Group (NYPIRG) - NYPIRG is New York State's largest student-directed consumer, environmental and government reform organization.   NYPIRG's full-time staff produces studies on a wide array of topics, coordinates state campaigns, lobbies public officials and works with students.

Atlantic Chapter of the Sierra Club - The Sierra Club is a non-profit, member-supported, public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural environment through public education and lobbying.

DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy - This federal government site is a gateway to hundreds of web sites and thousands of online documents on energy efficiency and renewable energy.

National Library for the Environment - A universal, timely, and easy-to-use single-point entry to environmental information and data for the use of all participants in the environmental enterprise.

The Local Government Environmental Assistance Network - This site provides environmental management, planning, funding, and regulatory information. The What's New section is a great way to keep abreast of current environmental funding opportunities, federal policy updates, important legislative activities, new reports and publications, and other available tools and resources.

Natural Resource Defense Counsil - NRDC is an environmental action organization.

Defenders of Wildlife - Defenders of Wildlife is dedicated to the protection of all native wild animals and plants in their natural communities.

National Wildlife Federation - NWF inspires Americans to protect wildlife for our children's future.

Wilderness Society - The Wilderness Society advocates at the highest levels to save, protect and restore America's wilderness areas.

Environmental Water Federation - WEF is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the global water environment.
