City of Ithaca Department of Planning & Development The City Department of Planning and Development provides planning services that promote timely and informed decisions on courses of action designed to further the social, economic, and environmental goals of the community. Areas of involvement include: housing, neighborhood planning, transportation and parking, recreation, environmental conservation and management, and economic development. H. The Department provides information and guidance regarding land use, development, and related policies and practices (including review and evaluation of proposed actions requiring City permission). Maps, studies, plans, and reports dealing with the City are available upon request.
Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council The Ithaca-Tompkins County Transportation Council is a Metropolitan Planning Organization authorized by state and federal governments to carry out transportation planning in Tompkins County. Tompkins County Greenway Coalition The Greenway Coalition is a volunteer organization whose members represent a diverse range of greeway interests, including: natural areas, hiking trails, scenic views, bicycle paths, rails-to-trails, land use planning, urban walkways, and historic preservation. The coalition has produced a countywide greenway plan to provide a framework for future development in the county. The Greenway Coalition sponsors greenway walks, workshops, lectures, and slide presentations. “Building Greenways for Tompkins County: An Action Plan,” maps, brochures, displays, and a slide show are all available through the Greenway Coalition.
