American Recycling American Recycling assists commercial businesses in developing waste management programs and provides counseling on internal waste management with emphasis on recycling. Additional services include container and hauling services for paper, glass, metals, plastics, and cardboard. Tompkins County Division of Environmental Health The Division of Environmental Health is a regulatory and educational agency that investigates and controls public health concerns, which include drinking water, sewage treatment, recreation facilities, open burning, rabies, and food services. Tompkins County Solid Waste Management Division The Solid Waste Management Division is responsible for management of solid waste generated in Tompkins County. The Division oversees operation of the county-wide curbside recycling program, sponsors the Master Composter program at Cornell Cooperative Extension, and monitors and maintains the closed county landfills. The Division also investigates illegal dumping, and provides information on disposal options for household hazardous waste.
