Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tompkins County Cornell Cooperative Extension’s mission is to disseminate and encourage the application of research generated knowledge and leadership techniques to individuals, families, businesses, and communities. CCE offers programs for youth and adults in many areas, including natural resources appreciation and stewardship, preservation of indoor and outdoor environments, water quality education, non-point source pollution prevention, land use policy, composting, waste reduction, and pesticide education. Tompkins County Soil & Water Conservation District The Soil and Water Conservation District provides technical assistance and education to county land users and governments to promote the wise use and conservation of soil, water, and related resources. Program areas include water quality protection, wetland investigations, permit applications, erosion and sediment control, agricultural waste management, stormwater management, critical area protection, stream-bank stabilization, house site evaluation, conservation education, annual seedling sales, and the Pond Stocking Program.
