Hearing Loss/ Speech Impairment: Provides
information, referral and advocacy on hearing loss and deafness. Assistance in locating
appropriate professionals for hearing evaluation.
Visual Impairments: Provides
information, referral and advocacy and peer counseling. Information on visual aids,
equipment, and new technologies. Free service for bi-weekly tapes of the Ithaca Journal.
Sign language classes offered. Visual Impairment Support Group.
Physical
impairment/disabilities: Accessibility consultation, equipment maintenance and repair;
information and referral; advocacy; housing assistance; lists of readers, attendants, and
interpreter referrals; living skills instruction; peer counseling and education.
Free loan closet for wheelchairs, canes, walkers, portable ramps, TDD/TTYs, closed
caption decoders, phone amplifiers, Braille machines, talking book machine, electronic
magnifying device, bathroom safety equipment, etc.
CDPAP (Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program) - Medicaid program which
assists personal care recipients in hiring and managing their own health care worker.
