District Attorney Gwen Wilkinson announced today that a Trumansburg man has been indicted in connection with the death of Salvatore Taranto, 58, on November 30, 2010.
Matthew Taranto, 28, is accused of intentionally shooting his father multiple times while they were home alone at the Tamarack Lane residence.
The indictment, which was handed up today in Tompkins County Court, accuses Matthew Taranto of one count of Murder in the Second Degree, which is a class A-I felony. If convicted Mr. Taranto faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in state prison.
Mr. Taranto remains on remand in Tompkins County jail.
The Trumansburg Police Department, the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office, and the New York State Police conducted the investigation.
