News Details - Public Invited for Update and Input on Pine Tree Road Pedestrian and Bicycle Project
The Tompkins County Highway Division will discuss updated conceptual designs for pedestrian and bicycle paths along Pine Tree Road in the Town of Ithaca at a public information meeting 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 22 at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 149 Honness Lane.
The paths project aims to construct safe routes for vehicles, walkers, and bicycles between Maple Avenue and Route 366, which are currently squeezed together through a pinch-point at the former railroad bridge over Pine Tree Road, also known as County Road 174.
The project would build a new overpass to correct this situation and provide an Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant connection to the East Ithaca Recreation Way on the overpass. Construction is scheduled for 2013. This will be the third time the County, its local funding partners the Town of Ithaca and Cornell, and its consultant, Barton and Loguidice, PC of Syracuse, will have met with the community concerning the project. The meeting will provide an opportunity for public review of preliminary design drawings and individual discussions with the designers and County staff before designs are finalized in the coming months.
The County invites everyone interested in the project to attend the May 22 meeting. For more information, contact John Lampman at the Tompkins County Highway Division, 607-274-0307, or e-mail: jlampman@tompkins-co.org.
