Support Groups provide an informal, yet structured
forum for people to share their experiences in a supportive atmosphere.
The goal of such groups is to meet specific educational and emotional needs
of the persons affected by age-related neurological disorders and diseases.
Some of the groups are caregiver groups; some are for both adults with
a chronic condition and their caregivers.
OBJECTIVES
-
To encourage a hopeful, positive attitude
-
To help persons make the required lifestyle
adjustments
-
To offer a social opportunity where people
can share experiences: both problems and what has worked for them.
-
To provide education about the disease
-
To provide emotional support
Most of the groups periodically invite experts
to speak to their members on particular topics of concern.
