Volunteer Opportunities
Senior engaging in conversation with his friendly visitor
Contributing time as a volunteer can be a rich and personally rewarding experience. There are many ways to share your talents by volunteering through the Office for the Aging. We are happy to meet with you individually to find an area which best suits your interests. Community members, students, and retirees continue to make a difference in such areas as:
  • Project CARE:  provide respite and supportive services for caregivers, such as errands, light housekeeping, yardwork, and transportation to medical appointments
  • friendly visiting for homebound seniors
  • snow shoveling
  • yard work
  • ombudsmen for adult homes and nursing homes
  • participating as classroom aides in the College for Lifelong Learning
  • teaching courses in the College for Lifelong Learning
  • providing office assistance and research support at the Office for the Aging

Contact the Tompkins County Office for the Aging to find a volunteer opportunity to match your skills and interests.
