Project CARE Volunteer Services

An elderly woman talking with her friendly visitor

Project CARE is a program which provides in-home support to family caregivers as well as direct help to frail, homebound seniors.  Volunteers of the Project CARE Program provide assistance in a variety of ways, helping with one or more of  the following activities:

  • friendly visiting
  • errands/transportation
  • grocery shopping
  • light housekeeping
  • light yardwork
  • respite for caregivers

The Office for the Aging will match volunteers' interests, abilities and availability with the specific needs of each caregiver.

If you are thinking of volunteering for Project CARE, and you can only commit to a short amount of time each week, we will work with you to find a task that fits into your schedule.

Paid Respite Help Through Project CARE

Project CARE does not send volunteers to provide respite in situations where hands-on personal care is needed.

In those instances, Project CARE may arrange to pay for weekly respite service through a home care agency.
