A.)*According to New York State Election Law Section 1-100.3 "The term party means any political organization which at the last preceding election for Governor polled at least fifty thousand votes for its candidate for governor." In the 2003 Gubernatorial Election, three parties did not achieve this goal, but a New York State Judge has ordered county boards of elections to track the enrollment of these parties, (**along with the Libertarian and Marijuana Reform parties) - these parties are not eligble to vote in primaries.
B.) If any party either does not field a candidate for Governor or receive a minimum of 50,000 votes for Governor, that party is no longer a recognized political party in NewYork State and is removed from the registration forms. |
