Did you Know.... Electronic Voting, 19th Century Style Thomas Edison's first patented invention was an electric vote recorder. He intended it to be used by legislative bodies, not the general public. But Congress and other legislatures preferred the slow pace of roll call votes; it allowed them to filibuster or try to convince others to change their votes, so the device was never used. |
